The All Party Parliamentary Group on Chronic Pain is a cross-party group of MPs and Peers with an interest in chronic pain and its associated conditions. The aim of the group is to raise awareness of how those with chronic pain are treated and to work for earlier and better care.

7.8 million people now live with chronic pain and the numbers are rising but patients often struggle to get the support to help them manage their pain. The Group aims to raise awareness of the condition amongst parliamentarians, to influence legislation and policy makers in order to improve the lives of people affected.

Inaugural Election of Officers - 7 July 2010
 

On 7 July 2010, the All-Party Parliamentary Chronic Pain Group held its Annual General Meeting of the new Parliament.

The Group swore in its officers: Anne Begg MP as chair, Linda Riordan as Treasurer and Baroness Masham as Secretary.

The Group discussed priorities for the new Parliament, and future events for the Autumn.

APPG meet with Ann Keen – 28 November 2009

Anne Begg MP and Patrick Hall MP, from the APPG met with parliamentary-under-secretary, Ann Keen to discuss the Department of Health’s progress with implementing the pain recommendations in the Chief Medical Officer’s Annual report.
